CYANOTYPE PRINTING

ALTERNATIVE PROCESSES :
CYANOTYPE PRINTING
Cyanotype printing, pioneered by Sir John Herschel in 1842,
employs a photosensitive iron compound to produce striking
blue-and-white images. Its ethereal allure captivated artists
and scientists alike, becoming popular in architectural blueprints
and botanical illustrations. The process involves coating paper
with a light-sensitive emulsion, exposing it to UV light, then
developing it in water. Its enduring charm lies in its simplicity
and distinctive azure hues, marking cyanotype as a timeless
technique in the annals of photographic history. For me Cyanotype
printing is almost therapeutic , the process takes me into a different
state altogether, below attached are some prints i made on various
types of papers ranging from different water color papers to
100% cotton papers
Pls note : All the photos are shot by me except the last one which is
shot by my mentor Nitin Joshi , special thanks to him for
introducing me to this form of art
